If you remember, not so long ago, we (my business partner Isaïe and myself ) were producing an almost weekly talkshow called The OC Show. That show was exclusively focussed on the topic of Overclocking. Now, after a year break from podcasting, the show is back and we’re now already four episodes in! OMG right?
But what changed?
A bit of background
The original “The OC Show” podcast actually started with Pieter-Jan (aka. Massman, from HWBOT) with whom I started the show as a way to update the community on what were the projects the head office of HWBOT was working on in Taipei, Taiwan. The podcast quickly expanded with news from the PC hardware industry and grew progressively – especially with Isaïe taking care of the production side weekly.
Fueled by the growth of the overclocking event series from HWBOT at the time (the HWBOT World Tour), the show became a much bigger thing with various guests joining the show.
Four seasons later, the show stopped as major changes came upon the overclocking community. If you are interested, the episodes of the show are still available on the OCTV Youtube channel:
O.M.G. for Overclock Mod Game
The major change with this new show is not that we wanted to move away from Overclocking – au contraire! But we wanted to give the show a more inclusive dimension to address a wider audience and a wider range of PC enthusiasts across all three segments that are Overclocking, PC modding and Gaming.
Ultimately, we want the show to feature resident hosts from all three spaces – with each host bringing to the table their expertise, their own guests and stories to share from within their specific communities.
O.M.G. is to be the weekly meeting for all PC Hardware fans – a little like church on Sunday.
O.M.G. schedule for 2019
The plan is to host the show weekly. For the moment we chose Friday afternoon’s here in Montreal on the eastern timezone at around 2pm for the recording.
One of the new additions to O.M.G. is the distribution of the show as an audio podcast. We’ve had done experimentally for the last season of The OC Show, but we’ve found since an automated way manage distribution across platforms. Thanks to that the show is available on all platforms: iTunes, Google podcast, Stitcher, Spotify, etc. It’s awesome.
You can subscribe to the podcast at your favorite place from this link.
I’m really looking forward to this sort of new era. We’ve attended many shows like PAX and TwitchCon last year – and we’ve greatly learn from it that being inclusive, even within a niche, is key. And that’s exactly what we are going to practice this year with O.M.G.
