Yesterday after posting a massive package to a friend (that important detail right here), I decided to walk back home. Instead of taking the bus I for once used my legs and walked back the few kilometers that separate my work place at the HWBOT office from home. And that’s when I captures this!
Taiwan: past present and future
Taipei is a constantly evolving city. There is not a single year that passes without us seeing a new metro station built. Old building are demolished and swiftly replaced by something else – heck the whole CBD didn’t even existed 7 years ago when I first came here. But I digress …
It’s in this buzzing world, quite unique to Taipei, that I walked back. I had already spotted the shot from the bus on the previous day and as the sun was setting, I walked quickly across the bridge and popped out my smartphone.
I guess I was slightly too late – I wish the riverside would have had still a bit of sunshine. Fault to the long line at the post office.
Anyhow, I find this shot pretty inspiring and to me it describes to the perfection the struggle Taiwan is going through as all together past, present and future collide. For more of my favorite photographs, check out my 500px profile.
What do you think?
This shot is very amazing. Taiwan with old, new building and the construction of new MRT line. But if we try to remove all this, we end up with a beautiful landscape with mountains, green grass and water, the true Taiwan.
Yes indeed – very true.
I wish they would have found a way to have this MRT line underground …
